Studebaker Administration Building
South Bend, Indiana
The Studebaker Administration Building was constructed in 1907 and was designed in an Italian Neoclassic style. The block long, four story Administration building not only contained the personal offices of the Studebaker brothers, but also housed recreation and exercise rooms for employees. It is one of the few remaining buildings of the Studebaker era remaining.
In May 2009, Dudley Ventures purchased the Historic Studebaker Administration Building. Dudley Ventures will bring substantial tax credit equity in order to completely renovate the Studebaker Administration Building. When completed, the building will maintain the grandeur of its architectural style but will be outfitted with state of the art systems: air-conditioning, heating, electrical, plumbing and high-speed internet systems.
Many charming historical features of the building remain, including an open third floor atrium, with "The History of Transportation" a period fresco, surrounding the top floor the Studebaker executive offices that are in pristine condition, and an open floor footprint which allows for creative adaptive reuse. The site has significant parking.
