Fun in the Sun Day at UMOM Phoenix

The UMOM Fun in the Sun Day on June 12, 2010 was a great way to educate parents and children about water safety while having fun at UMOM's splash pad on the campus courtyard.
UUMOM New Day Centers, located in Phoenix, has come to the aid of the community since 1964. UMOM offers families in need the basic necessities, plus education, recreation, health screenings, hygiene items, cleaning supplies, resources for financial assistance, job training and placement, continuing education, counseling, medical services, legal assistance and much more.
During the month of May, Dudley Ventures' employees brought in pool goodies and toy donations. Items donated included: swimsuits, towels, flip flops, suntan lotion and beach balls. Everyone did a really great job bringing in items! In total, Dudley Ventures collected more than 350 items, plus a check for $100.
At the UMOM Fun in the Sun Day, each family received a bag of summer fun items when they signed in and the children were already wearing the swim suits and flip flops that we donated. Dudley Ventures sponsored a Duck Pond booth at the event. We had numbers on the bottoms of the ducks, which floated in our blow up pools. The number each child picked was the number of candy treats that they got to pick out. The kids loved it! The little ones liked sitting in the pools with the ducks.
Additional volunteers participated and set up: a water relay race, bouncy water slide, watermelon eating contest, snow cone booth, water safety training station and a water balloon toss. Over 100 children were in attendance and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves, volunteers included.
